About
the Artist Mark Young
Mark
Young’s oil paintings have won awards in numerous juried
art shows -- including four People’s Choice Best of
Show -- and in art-publication competitions. His work is featured
in several magazines. Many private and corporate collectors
around the U.S. own his paintings, and he has painted numerous
commissioned portraits of people, animals and buildings. Six
commercial galleries currently do or have represented his
work, and he has had several one-person exhibitions in addition
to invitational group shows. Unlike many artists who specialize
in a narrow range of subjects and composition approaches,
Mark’s wide breadth of subjects is one of his hallmarks,
and his work is known for its convincing realism.
Mark
has been involved as a volunteer with The Saint Francis of
Assisi Service Dog Foundation for five years and painted “Unconditional
Love” in 2004, using Saint Francis service dog recipient
Jim Cunningham and his partner Checkers as models for the
painting. The original painting was sold in 2005 and is now
in a private collection.
