make this remarkable program possible.

Become part of Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation's
exciting Puppy Raising Program. Puppy raisers open their
homes and hearts to future service dogs, raising puppies for 18
months before returning them to Saint Francis of Assisi Service
Dog Foundation for advanced training. For more information and an
application form, click on the menu item "Puppy Raiser Program."
Become a Puppy Sitter for Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation puppies-in-training.
Puppy sitters look after Saint Francis puppies on weekends or for
periods of one or two weeks while their regular puppy raisers are
on vacation. Saint Francis instituted our Prison Pup Program in
the summer of 2002 at the Bland Correctional Center. If you can
help, we have a special need for
weekend Puppy Sitters who live in the New River Valley. Puppy sitters
help our Saint Francis puppies by exposing them to new friends and
different places. The Puppy Sitter application can be
downloaded here.
Become part of Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation's
Training Program. Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation
trainers keep the dogs in their homes and train them to perform
over 50 different tasks. To become a Saint Francis of Assisi Service
Dog Foundation trainer, basic obedience experience is necessary.
Are you looking for an exceptionally well-mannered pet? The regimen
to become a full-fledged Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation
Service Dog is a challenging one, and some of our puppies and dogs
are not able to successfully complete the program. When that happens,
we place that puppy or dog for adoption as a "Career Change
Dog". We keep a waiting list of dog lovers who would love
to have a Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation dog as
a pet, and will contact you when we have a dog that needs placement.
