It
is the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of donors that
make this remarkable program possible.

Volunteer
Take advantage of excellent Volunteer Opportunities at Saint
Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation. We welcome all levels
of involvement. Volunteers can participate in special events, puppy
raising, puppy sitting, office work, and many other helpful activities.
If you would like to volunteer for Saint Francis, you can
download a printable Volunteer Questionnaire here.
Puppy Raising Program
Become part of Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation's
exciting Puppy Raising Program. Puppy raisers open their
homes and hearts to future service dogs, raising puppies for 18
months before returning them to Saint Francis of Assisi Service
Dog Foundation for advanced training. For more information and an
application form, click on "Puppy Raiser Program."
Puppy Sitter
Become a Puppy Sitter for Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation puppies-in-training.
Puppy sitters look after Saint Francis puppies on weekends or for
periods of one or two weeks while their regular puppy raisers are
on vacation. Saint Francis instituted our Prison Pup Program in
the summer of 2002 at the Bland Correctional Center. If you can
help, we have a special need for weekend Puppy Sitters who live in the New River Valley. Puppy sitters
help our Saint Francis puppies by exposing them to new friends and
different places. The Puppy Sitter application can be
downloaded here.
Share
Share Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation with others!
This is one of the most helpful things you can do for Saint Francis
of Assisi Service Dog Foundation. If you are aware of family, friends,
clubs or organizations that might be interested in services or interested
in volunteer opportunities, we hope you will share your knowledge
and direct them to us.
Foster Family
Become a Foster Family for a Saint Francis Service Dog Foundation dog in advanced training. Dogs in training with Saint Francis Staff trainers need a home when not in “school”. You will enjoy the companionship of a wonderful, well-behaved adult dog evenings and weekends while also making a huge contribution to the training process. Click here to download the Foster Family Application.
Adopt
Are you looking for an exceptionally well-mannered pet? The regimen
to become a full-fledged Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation
Service Dog is a challenging one, and some of our puppies and dogs
are not able to successfully complete the program. When that happens,
we place that puppy or dog for adoption as a "Career Change
Dog". We keep a waiting list of dog lovers who would love
to have a Saint Francis Service Dogs trained dog as
a pet, and will contact you when we have a dog that needs placement.
Click here to download the application for adoption.
If you are
interested in becoming a puppy sitter or if you would like to adopt
a Career Change Dog, you may apply by downloading one of the forms
below.
Please print, fill out and mail the completed application
to the address at the bottom of the form:
